Most child recovery jobs we get at Phom Penh Private Investigator involve a parental kidnapping. Cambodia is not a country that will automatically comply with foreign court orders, which is why a lot of people pick the country when running away with their children.
Child recovery is a very delicate task, as our private investigators must know how to operate in the grey zone. Phnom Penh Private Investigator only carries out operations within the law. If a parent is in Phnom Penh, or anywhere else in Cambodia, against a foreign court order, we obviously cannot legally enforce it. However, there is no court order forbidding the other parent from taking the child to the airport, and flying along with him out of Cambodia. The priority of our private investigators is always going to be the safety and welfare of the child, this is why we will never use any form of violence or coercion. Our detectives will generally carry out surveillance until an opportunity arises for the legal guardian to be reunited with the child. At that point, Phnom Penh Private Investigator will arrange for any travel documents required, a safe house where necessary, and transportation and escorting to the airport. Our job finishes when the person who has been given custody is safely outside Cambodia.
We often work with child recovery organizations and police forces from outside Cambodia on these matters. Where possible, we will work with local law enforcement, unless we deem this to be counter productive, in which case, we avoid them.
We will not take jobs where there are conflicting court orders from different countries, especially if one of those countries happens to be Cambodia.
